D-Addicts was founded in November of 2003 by Ruroshin. In the beginning it started out as only an open tracker, a couple of months later a forum was added. DramaWiki and FansubWiki were both created in spring of 2005. As the years went by the site’s popularity and amount of content grew, all thanks to its uploaders, fansubbers and DramaWiki editors. In November of 2014 the founder decided to close the torrent section, and in September of 2018 a new owner under the same name took his place.
I have been an active member at D-Addicts since April of 2006. In January of 2014 I was asked if I wanted to become a moderator, an offer I accepted.

This is not a status update, but more me voicing my concern regarding one of D-Addicts forum and DramaWiki admins, MoerkJ. No one seems to have seen, or heard from him since May 16, 2020 when he was last seen on the forum. He was last active on DramaWiki on May 17, 2017.
I’ve tried to reach him several times, in various ways since December, 2018. My last PM to him, sent September 15, 2019 is still sitting unread in my outbox at the forum. I have asked others who I think may know of his whereabouts, and on other websites. No answer from MoerkJ, and no one knows anything.
I’m worried about him. Even if he’s lost interested in D-Addicts, I would like to know if he’s okay. We have the pandemic that started in 2020, and the 2021 floods in Germany. I keep hoping I’ll one day hear from him. That he’s just been busy, or lost access to his e-mail. I will not jump to the conclusion that he’s dead, because I have no confirmation of it. I’m worried and do miss him, but I keep hoping…

Back in September of 2018 when it was announced the subtitles section would be going away, I contacted the founder, and learned that the site had a new owner. I’m thankful for the new admin for keeping D-Addicts up and running, however there are a couple of things I’m critical about. What can I say, he walked in through the door backwards.
Money, money, money
He doesn’t seem to be genuinely interested in Asian entertainment, compare it to how the site originally was created. Website traffic and engagement, that’s what he’s been talking about all this time. To mention some things; Coming very close to deleting all subtitles, putting up a blog at D-Addicts main page, where the majority of articles are completely unrelated to Asian entertainment and optimized for search engines. In addition, plastering the forum with ads.
9 months of silence
I know it’s not really me as a forum moderator who should be saying this, but it’s been nine months and I’m tired of keeping this facade up. I think those who visit D-Addicts definitely should know that the site has a new owner, and I can’t with a good conscience continue to be quiet. In the long run the situation would’ve become awkward.
What upset me the most is that he all this time, since September of 2018 has posted under the founder’s name without saying anything, and left the community thinking he’s the founder. No matter how little you think people will care, you don’t do such a thing. It is just wrong!
I wish he’d registered under another username and that user had been made an admin, but I don’t know if he because of technical reasons had no choice but to take over in the founder’s name.
I would’ve understood if he hadn’t said anything the first month after taking over, if he wanted to have time to set things up and do needed maintenance. I’ve given the new admin several chances to make this announcement and introduce himself, but to this day he hasn’t said one word.
Why don’t you just leave? Catch 22
I will remain at D-Addicts, despite not liking how things have been, or is handled. I’m staying for the community, and the founder. Thanks to him I’ve met my very best friends. It’s a community very dear to me. It’s where everything started, and staying there is the only way in which I can thank him in some way, right now.
After September 23rd, all the subtitles will be deleted from the forum and server with no backup. Update Sep-16: This decision has been cancelled. The subtitles section are now members-only. You need to register a free account and have at least one approved post to be able to access it.
On November 19th 2014 the founder of D-Addicts decided to close the torrent section. To my knowledge, none of the other admins or moderators were aware of what was about to happen
When I saw the I announcement I thought, “Maybe it’s an old thread.” I had to double check the date. Sadly it wasn’t. I wish it was April 1st.
I still clearly remember that day, and the turbulent days that followed. It was a very sudden announcement, and I got very sad when reading about it. I’m not angry at the founder for the decision he made, but so sad that this had to happen to such a great community. With the closing of the torrent section and new layout a lot of people left, and the drama discussion threads got less active.
I want to thank all members at D-Addicts from the bottom of my heart, those who left, stayed, returned, or recently joined for still sharing your love for Asian dramas. Many whom I consider a friend, including my very best friends, and a few of you mean very much to me.
The following song I’ve come to associate with D-Addicts, the community and everything that’s happened to it over the years.
